ETÜ Continues On Its Way

Erzurum Technical University (ETU) Rector Prof. Dr. Bülent Çakmak participated in the Doğunun Sesi (The voice of the East) show on TRT Erzurum Radio and answered Ömer Ergedik's questions.

Answering Ergedik's questions about Erzurum Technical University's recent studies and projects it has developed, Rector Bülent Çakmak shared details about the Department of Aerospace Engineering, which he recently announced.

"It Will Be A First In The East Of Ankara"

Stating that Turkey performs quite important breakthroughs in the field of aviation in the last 15 years, Rector Bülent Çakmak said that the Aerospace Engineering Department to be established in ETU exists only in the east of Ankara and there is only four within Turkey. Emphasizing that Erzurum Technical University is an educational institution competent in the field of engineering, Prof. Dr. Bülent Çakmak said: “We aim to integrate our infrastructure facilities, qualified academic staff, and laboratories equipped with the latest technology in our Electrical Electronics, Mechanical, and Computer Engineering Departments into our new department to be opened”.

"We Achieved Degrees in TEKNOFEST"

Stating that they have sufficient experience in this context, Rector Bülent Çakmak said: “The success we have achieved with SkyTeam, which is made up of ETÜ students, especially in the TEKNOFEST organization, which is the largest space and aviation festival organized worldwide, is the biggest indicator of this. In recent years, we have participated in rocket design and rocket competitions and achieved significant degrees. These achievements show us that ETU provides its students with a quality education in the field of engineering.

The First Student Will Be Admitted in the 2021-2022 Academic Year

Rector Bülent Çakmak stated that the first students are planned to be admitted to the Department of Aviation and Space Engineering in the academic year of 2021-2022: “The presence of both an international airport in our city and the presence of the Jet Upper Reserve Airfield Command puts Erzurum in a very important position in the field of aviation. In this context, we plan to carry out joint R&D studies with the UAV and SİHA Centers established within the Erzurum Police Department, which is an important step for Erzurum aviation. We have determined our road map for this. In line with all these studies, we are happy to take steps in line with the National Space Program announced by President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and have implemented the work to train manpower in the relevant field and to develop the space ecosystem”.

Rector Bülent Çakmak: "We Are Ready for All Kinds of Scenarios"

Stating that they continue the Spring Semester with the Hybrid education model, Rector Bülent Çakmak emphasized that education and training are progressing smoothly with the superior effort of the academic staff and the strong infrastructure of ETU. Stating that they have started planning for the next period, Prof. Dr. Bülent Çakmak added: "According to the course of the epidemic process and the recommendations of YÖK, we plan to switch to face-to-face training in the next period. Of course, within this face-to-face training model, there will be online education to a certain extent. Our digital infrastructure and the fact that we have established our digital learning management systems make us ready for all kinds of scenarios."
