Erzurum Technical University (ETU) Rector Prof. Dr. Bülent Çakmak made examinations in the construction of the mosque on the university campus.
Vice-Rectors Prof. Dr. Birol Soysal, Prof. Dr. İrfan Kaymaz, and General Secretary Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tuba Yetim accompanied him with the visit to the mosque that has still been on construction.
Making a statement after the examinations, Prof. Dr. Bülent Çakmak has also stated that the mosque, which has been under the construction from 2018, is planned to be opened to the public, students, and university staff in Ramadan this year. Prof. Dr. Bülent Çakmak said: “The more the mosque is used, the more it reaches its purpose. On this occasion, I would like to thank everyone who contributed to the inclusion of our mosque in our university”.
The mosque, which has a total area of 2380 square meters with a single dome, 2 minarets, and 4 balconies, will have a capacity of 3630 people. The mosque, which will be open to the usage of the public and the university, will be the largest of the university mosques. Religious Foundation of Turkey assigned it as "a type project" and equipped with various social areas; It consists of a basement, ground floor, and a cellar.
